The YALI RLC EA Alumni Chapter of Somalia proudly participated in the “YALI Giving Day Event,” a landmark initiative aimed at securing funding for our flagship project, “Empowering Somali Youth for Inclusive Peace.” This project is dedicated to equipping Somali youth with the skills, resources, and platforms needed to become proactive agents of peace and social cohesion within their communities.
Our chapter was honored to be selected from 14 YALI Alumni Chapters across East and Central Africa to represent the region at the first-ever YALI Giving Day. Alongside three other chapters representing different regions of Africa, we emerged as one of the top-performing chapters, securing the highest number of donations. This achievement underscores the leadership, commitment, and hard work we consistently demonstrate in our mission to empower Somali youth and drive impactful change.
Following the successful fundraising efforts, we have begun the initial phase of project implementation. Additionally, we have received a commitment of further funding from the U.S. Embassy in Somalia, which has been our key supporter throughout this journey. However, we are currently awaiting the disbursement of these funds to fully scale our activities. Once received, we plan to host an official opening ceremony to launch the Empowering Somali Youth for Inclusive Peace project and engage key stakeholders in our vision for sustainable peacebuilding.
Key Objectives of the Project:
- Leadership Training: Equip young Somalis with essential leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Community Engagement: Foster inclusive dialogue and collaboration among youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Policy Advocacy: Support youth participation in policy discussions related to peace and security in Somalia.
- Capacity Building: Strengthen local youth-led initiatives aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our donors and supporters who contributed to making this initiative a reality. Your support is instrumental in empowering Somali youth to take an active role in shaping a more peaceful and inclusive future for Somalia.
Stay tuned for updates as we progress towards the official launch of the project.
